This technical appendix sets out the methodology used for ERO’s review of the implementation of the refreshed English and maths learning areas – A new chapter: How well are the changes to English and maths going? 

The technical appendix is set out in three parts:

Part 1: Technical Notes – describes how we designed the evaluation implementation of the new learning areas, the method we used, and the sample we achieved 

Part 2: Data collection tools – provides the questionnaires used to survey teachers and leaders, students, and parents and whānau

Part 3: Survey data tables – these are in Excel workbooks.
